Live Nation St. Louis and CD Warehouse are partnering up to support St. Louis native Johnny Venus, drummer for the rapidly up-and-coming indie band Greek Fire and drum tech/stage manager for internationally known rock band Story of the Year.

Upon returning from an amazing and successful Story of the Year/Greek Fire tour of Japan in February, Johnny was diagnosed with leukemia. His disease emerged with virtually no warning. Within hours of a blood test, Johnny was admitted to a hospital where he remains under fantastic care and surrounded by people that love him. Johnny feels supremely lucky to have access to the proper care and treatment this country has to offer. However, like millions of Americans—and most aspiring artists and musicians—he does not currently have health insurance. Needless to say, this is a major hurdle in his fight to beat leukemia.

Johnny’s friends and family report that he is “staying strong and fighting with brilliant positive energy. His band mates, his family, and his girlfriend are by his side doing everything they can to keep his spirits up, but he still needs every ounce of help he can get.”

Giant 4 foot by 6 foot bus shelter posters are available for a $25 donation for Johnny at CD Warehouse located at 11828 Tesson Ferry in South County. The Unite The United Foundation has announced a fundraiser auction for St. Louis native Johnny Venus, drummer for the rapidly up-and-coming indie band Greek Fire and drum tech/stage manager for internationally known rock band Story of the Year.

I may have met Johnny before, but I got to know him a little bit a few years ago on the soty, anberlin, terrible things tour. He is honestly the only drummer I’ve ever known who I have always held a positive opinion towards. he’s the exception to the asshole rule.

I’m broker than broke after the last 5 months, but I’ll do anything in my power to help him along.

Thrice Ask Fans To Help Create Final Setlist

Thrice announced the dates for their final tour a few days ago, and now they are enlisting the help of fans to create the final setlist they will play on tour. The band has launched a poll where you can choose songs from every album, even b-sides, and the winning songs will make it onto the setlist. Hey folks,

By now you’ve probably heard that we announced the dates for our “Farewell Tour” this May/June with Animals As Leaders (and another very special guest). If you missed those dates, you can find them here. If you’d like to buy tickets, you can do that here. Ticket pre-sales began yesterday and tickets will be made available to the general public onThursday March 1. We’d be honored and thankful if you’d join us for one (or more) of the shows on this last tour for the foreseeable future. Please don’t delay, because these tickets will go quickly.

It’s never been easy for us to decide what to play on tour. And now, with eight LPs and a handful of B-sides and covers under our collective belts, and given the circumstances of this tour, it’s as daunting a task as it’s ever been.

So we’re asking you to help us out.
